Storyline:
Georgia is an American academic who's lost her teaching job in Athens. She's taken a job as a tour guide, but she hates it and it shows: the tourists, mostly American, are bored with history and facts; they want to shop. Every group has a goofy couple, a frat boy, a sullen teen, a feuding couple, divorcées looking for a mate, and a funny guy. This group is no exception, plus there's no air conditioning and a bearded silent driver. Thanks to an unlikely friendship, plus daisies, an ice-cream cone, the history of syrup, and the Oracle at Delphi, Georgia may have a shot at finding her kefi during this four-day tour.

Well, I'm a 40 year old male who got drug to this movie kicking and screaming by my wife, Robyn.
I really, really, hate to admit this but I actually half enjoyed it. Nice scenery, laid back feel of the film almost like we were part of the tour. A few scattered laughs. Not really coca-cola spewing through your nose and burning you laughs, more like hehe.
If you are under 40 years old, skip it. If you are over 40 you will likely enjoy it.
I'm giving it a "GO" even knowing that lots of younger folks would hate this movie, but I don't think that was the target demographic.

My big Fat Greek Wedding was 5 stars. I would give My Life in ruins 3.5 stars . Well worth going to see. Great adult movie. I didn't have to hear God**** or the F word. Good clean fun.
MOVIES REVIEWER
I just attended the advance press preview of this 96-min comedy starring Nia Vardalos(My Big Fat Greek Wedding(2002) - NOT 2003 as claimed by those who are clueless and misinformed - get your facts correct!).
What stood out for me was the OVER-ACTING by the entire cast - it was painful to watch such contrived forced performances. Nevertheless, I gritted my teeth and sat through the entire movie. Totally predictable ending.
The touristy historic/ancient monuments/dilapidated buildings were the actual stars of this movie.
Other than that, this lack-luster movie was barely more tepid than week-old dishwater.
Spoilers Alert!
1) Georgia decided to remain in Greece.
2) The buses' A/C was swapped.
3) Irv did not die - he was hospitalized.
4) Georgia got laid - so did Irv - and also the klepto old-lady.
5) Klepto old lady had a field day stealing all kinds of items. (WRONG message to send our kids!)
VERDICT:
Save your hard-earned $$$ - a rental.
Actual GRADE: C-avg.

Nia Vardalos provides us another glimse into Greek life, this time in Greece itself. She plays an uptight, out of work history professor turned tour guide of the ancient ruins of Greece who needs to put some fun back into her life. She's on a week long trip with a bus full of misfits and a mysterious driver. Through the excellent support of Richard Dreyfus, as a bittersweet widower who becomes the Obi-wan to Nia's Luke, and the bus load of characters who steal the show, she finds out that life is about much more that pursuing a career.
It's a good, clean family fun movie (except for the one sexy scene) and it makes you feel good. Its slightly touching and best of all provides more than one good hearty, Greek belly laughs.
This is a great date move.

Love this movie! It was sweet and very enjoyable. Too bad some are going to pass on it cause of some less-than-good reviews. Great movie to take even your grandparents. Nice time to spend with those we love and rarely share moments like that. Go ahead and see the movie.
